Samuel Lankford Dillard was born September 13, 1871, and died
October 1, 1926. His wife was Ella Ursula Smith, who was born August
20, 1880, and died December 2, 1920. They were the parents of seven
children.
Even now, Sam Dillard is remembered for his quiet devotion to his
family and his true dedication to the church. He was an elder of
Fulton Church and Superintendent of the Sunday Scholl for a number of
years. If the doors of the church were opened, he would be there.
His hobbies were hunting and fishing. His wit was a great delight
to those who knew him and his disdain of profanity was equally well
known.
His entire life was spent in the Fulton Community which he loved.
Here he owned and operated his farm.
His love and devotion and his upright life are the memories his
children cherish.

A. Sada Cornelia Dillard, born October 12, 1901, died May 22, 1914.
B. Elizabeth Etolia Dillard, born August 13, 1903, married April
17, 1944 to Frank G. Canfield, born September 17, 1883, died
July 16, 1951. Married Tom Butterfield.
C. Infant daughter, died April 16, 1905.
D. Emma Jane Dillard, born October 21, 1906, died August 17, 1958.
Married September 16, 1950 to William McKinley Lewis, born
January 18, 1917. Children by former marriage:
(1) Malcolm Daniel Holtzclaw, born March 4, 1927, married June
27, 1947 to Betty Jean Ashmore, born August 31, 1929. Their
children are:
(a) Philip Joel Holtzclaw, born April 13, 1948.
(b) Donna Lorine Holtzclaw, born April 3, 1954.
(2) Bobbie Jean Holtzclaw, born March 19, 1930, married July 27,
1946, to Raymond Edgar White, Jr., born April 30, 1926.
Their two children are:
(a) Cynthia Jeane White, born July 21, 1948.
(b) Gene Maurice White, born July 21, 1958.
E. Nellie Ann Dillard, born September 15, 1908, married January 31,
1927 to Roosevelt Arthur McClimon, born October 21, 1906. Their
only child is:
(1) Betty Ann McClimon, born March 13, 1937, married July 28,
1956 to Anthony Dean Hancock. They have one son:
(a) Anthony Dean Hancock, Jr., born October 25, 1958.
F. Samuel Grady Dillard, born July 8, 1912, died March 25, 1957,
married June 9, 1934 to Nelle Vernon Smith, born December 30,
1911. Their two children are:
(1) Samuel Steven Dillard, born May 27, 1941.
(2) Elizabeth Nelle Dillard, born April 6, 1947.
G. Thomas Allen Dillard, born October 20, 1915, married April 4,
1941 to Sara Greer, born April 3, 1918. Their only child is:
(1) Thomas Allen Dillard, Jr., born August 2, 1944.
