Louella Dillard, the second daughter, was born February 23, 1878.
As a child she had dark blue eyes and dark curly hair. Many have said
that she was a very pretty little girl. She was educated in the
schools of the community near Pelham. Her first church membership was
at Mt. Tabor in Greer which is now the First Presbyterian Church of
Greer. Later she joined Fulton Presbyterian Church when it was
organized. She was an active member of this church and was devoted to
her parents, brothers, end sisters.
At the age of twenty-six, March 9, 1904, she married William
Pinkney Vaughn, born December 25, 1876.
They lived in the Fairview Community near Oreer, S. C. Christian
principles of love, patience, and understanding prevailed in their
lives, making a happy home for their children. To this union seven
children were born. They are: Edward, Annie, Louis, Hazel, Frances,
Troy and Joe. God honored this home and couple with forty-nine and a
half years of usefulness together. On December 16, 1952, Will Vaughn
was called Home.
As her children, friends, and relatives talk with her today at the
age of seventy-eight, they are reminded of her patience, kindness,
love, and devotion to her family, and friendliness to all. As she
comes and goes, her children "rise up and call her blessed."
The children are:
A. Edward Vaughn, born October 23, 1905, died July 31, 1957,
married August 23, 1935 to Nell Runion, born April 20, 1911.
Their four children are:
(1) Wilma Nell Vaughn, born July 15, 1936, married Seth Needham
born April 11, 1934. Their only son is:
(a) Benny, born December 19, 1955.
(2) Earl Dillard Vaughn, born July 5, 1937, married March, 1959
to Martha Ford.
(3) Jessie Lena Vaughn, born June 20, 1943.
(4) Rita Ann Vaughn, born September 23, 1945.
B. Annie Marriah Vaughn, born November 29, 1907, married June 2,
1928 John Luther Cannada, born October 10, 1907. Their children
are:
(1) Royce Lee Cannada, born March 31, 1928, married June 2,
1951 Ruth Garrett. Their children are:
(a) Bobby Royce Cannada, born July 26, 1952.
(b) Jane Lea Cannada, born September 26, 1954.
(c) Phillip Lynn, born August 20, 1958.
(2) Doris Ann Cannada born September 20, 1930, married November
4, 1950 Charles Black, born April 7, 1928. Their children
are:
(a) John Barto Black, born October 29, 1952.
(b) Charles Allen Black, born September 29, 1956.
(3) William Monk Cannada, born April 27, 1939, married August
31, 1958 Jeanette Childers, born October 4, 194O.
(4) Jimmie Cannada, born August 17, 1947.
C. Hazel Lee Vaughn, born April 25, 1911, married September 24,
1937 Calvin Boyd Chandler, born November 20, 1913. Their only
son is:
(1) Marcus Chandler, born November 20, 1938.
D. James Louis Vaughn, born April 2, l913, married on December 22,
1934 to Floradee Ward, born October 5, 1913. Their two children
are:
(1) Sylvia Dee Vaughn, born May 1, 1944.
(2) Laverne James Vaughn, born September 22, 1946.
E. Frances Lula Vaughn, born March 19, 1915, married September,
1934 to Harold Boyd Stokes, born November 22, 1913. Their two
children are:
(1) Harold Anthony Stokes, born November 22, 1936.
(2) Marilu Stokes, born December 8, 1943.
F. Troy Vaughn, born July 11, 1917, married on June 27, 1940 to
Drucilla Neal, born September 9, 1919. Their only daughter is:
(1) Sherrill Jane Vaughn, born November 8, 1946.
G. Joe Vaughn, born October 20, 1919, married an April l4, 1948 to
Cleo Moss, born January 22, 1923. Their children are:
(1) Lud Vaughn, born August 2, 1950.
(2) Mary Vaughn, born May 12, 1953.
